BRIEF HISTORY OF KARNATAKA
ARYA VYSYA MAHASABHA, BANGALORE

Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha, a Charitable
Institution came into existence on 18-7-1908 and got Registered
under Societies Act during 1915. The Main aim and objects of the
formation of the Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha was to provide
Hostel facility to the Students coming from Rural Areas of Karnataka
and other States to Bangalore for Higher Studies and other facilities
to the Community.
It may not be out of context to mention that
Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha was responsible for formation of
Vysya Bank, which is now known as ING Vysya Bank.
The Boys Hostel was originally started in a rented
house in Basavanagudi Area of Bangalore. Subsequently our own
Hostel located at the present premises (No. 16, Seshadri Road,
Gandhinagar, Bangalore- 560009) was constructed during 1928 on
the land granted by HIS HIGHNESS Sri. Nalvadi Krishna Rajendra
Wodeyar, the then Maharaja of Mysore with a Government grant of
Rs. 10,000/- towards construction of Hostel. From time to time
Arya Vysya Hostel was renovated/ re-built based on the requirement
projected by the Community.
The present Arya Vysya Hostel for Boys caters
for about 200 Students with 60 Rooms built on a four Storied Building
during the year 1999 with a circulating Library, well equipped
Z, em, Good Reading Room and Indoor Game Facilities for the benefit
of the Students.
Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha is also having
a Guest House called Vasavi Bhavan Vishranthi Gruha at the above
premises with 17 Double Bed Guest Rooms with all facilities for
the benefit of Arya Vysya Community.
Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha is also running
a Matrimonial Centre as well as a Business Centre providing services
in respect of Fax, Xerox, Printouts, Scanning and other services
for the benefit of our Hostel Students and to our Community.
As a Charitable Institution, Karnataka Arya Vysya
Mahasabha is granting Scholarships to various deserving Arya Vysya
Community Students on district wise basis through out Karnataka
and also Medical Assistance to the Poor and Needy patients of
the Community.
Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha being Mother Body
for all Arya Vysya Community is having 23000 Life Members and
500 Donors at present and proposes to increase its Life Membership
to One Lakh during this tenure.
In order to full fill its objectives in a big
way, the Mahasabha is planning to construct a Multi Storied Office
Complex Suitable for MNC’s, Software Companies etc on the
vacant site available in front of the present Vasavi Bhavan at
No. 16, Seshadi Road, Gandhinagar, Bangalore- 560009.
Being a Charitable Institution, Karnataka Arya
Vysya Mahasabha proposes to construct more and more Arya Vysya
Hostels for Men and Ladies through out Karnataka State (on need
base) out of the income derived on completion of the above Office
Complex for the benefit of the Arya Vysya Student Community of
Karnataka and other States and also as a CENTENARY GIFT to the
Community.
